Types and Symptoms of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD)
Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a common childhood illness. Depending on the severity, HFMD can be categorized into three types:
1. Mild Form:
- Description: This is the least severe type of HFMD.
- Symptoms: Typical symptoms include fever, rash, and mouth ulcers. Most children recover completely at this stage.
2. Severe Form:
- Description: This form of HFMD affects the nervous system.
- Symptoms: Children may experience headaches, vomiting, and muscle weakness. It can lead to significant central nervous system damage.
3. Critical Form:
- Description: This is the most serious type of HFMD.
- Symptoms: It causes heart and lung failure, leading to symptoms such as rapid breathing and increased heart rate. If not treated promptly, it can be life-threatening.
